Vegetarian & Vegan
Dry, aromatic Pinot Noir rosé is a speciality of Sancerre although demand still makes it quite a rarity. The producers of Saint Pourcain, to the south of the central Loire Valley have made a salmon pink Pinot rosé, similar in style to a sancerre rosé. This wine is soft and fragrant with summer pudding aromas and a fresh acidity.
The relatively unknown region of Saint Pourcain lies 50m south of Sancerre in the centre of France. The region traditionally produced little known blended wines. The Vignerons de Saint Pourcain were established in 1952 and have grown to represent over 60% of the region`s vineyard. The standards set by the cooperative are unmatched by any other in the Loire; modern winery, reduced yields, green harvesting and replacement of poor and inappropriate vines with contemporary clones. Local varieties like Tressalier are nurtured alongside flavoursome modern interpretations of Sauvignon and Pinot Noir.
It should be drunk cool and enjoyed with salads, spicy vegetable or seafood stir fry, pates or cold meats, salmon and grilled vegetables.
