Made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes cultivated in Montresor's vineyards in the Valpolicella Classico zone (north-west of Verona). The grapes are hand harvested at the end of October. The late harvested grapes are dried out for four months (until February of the following year) and then crushed. The must is fermented in stainless steel for four months. The wine is aged in Slavonian oak casks and small French barrique for two years.
The illustrious Montresor family moved from France to Italy at the start of the 19th Century and settled in the Veneto region near Lake Garda. In 1892 Cantina Giacomo Montresor was established in Verona and remains family-owned to this day. Giorgio Montresor produces a portfolio of wines which increasingly rival the offerings of the region's more fashionable names - harnessing modern technology to craft the best wines from each site, across their 100ha of vineyard, in Valpolicella and Garda.
Excellent with red meats, game or hard cheeses, especially Parmesan.
